U.S. Shipborne Laser Weapons Pass Testing

The U.S. Navy said in April this year that it has developed a laser can that can destroy planes and small boats, and plans to continue testing it in the Arabian Gulf within eight months.

In actual combat tests, the weapon has already shot down aircraft flying at low altitude and destroyed small vessels. Developers stated that the weapon had a 100% hit rate in 12 shooting tests, including tests conducted on destroyers in August last year. The ship's flight deck is equipped with a giant white cabin that shields the laser and a generator that drives the laser.

The main problem at the moment is how to focus indoctrination on the target and the vapor that crosses the sea. If these two problems are solved, the laser will open a new era of naval weapons. For example, the ship will be able to use the laser as a warning signal to point to an intruder instead of relying on various systems to track the aircraft. If the intruding aircraft does not change course, the laser can be started to attack.
