According to the forecast of the American Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), in 2010, US tire shipments will increase by 3% to 267 million, an increase of about 7 million.
In 2009, the total shipments of tires were 259.7 million, a year-on-year drop of 8%. This year, the growth in US tire shipments reflects the trend of economic recovery, increase in vehicle mileage, and slight increase in car sales. Therefore, with the acceleration of economic recovery, this rebound will continue into 2011, when US tire shipments will reach 275 million.
