Sweden's SKF wins more than 4.8 billion truck parts procurement contract from China National Heavy Duty Truck Group

SKF announced on December 20, 2011 that it had signed a long-term contract with China National Heavy Truck Group Co., Ltd., one of China's three major truck manufacturers. The value of the contract is more than SEK 5.2 billion (about 4.8 billion RMB). China Suzuki has commissioned SKF to supply SKF's split-card wheel hub units, tapered roller bearings and seals for its new trucks.

We will continue to increase SKF China's investment in manufacturing, R&D and personnel and commit ourselves to supporting the development of Chinese customers," said Tom Johnstone, president and CEO of SKF. The strategy is consistent with China’s “Twelfth Five-Year Plan.” SKF's new Jinan plant is scheduled to be operational in early 2012, during SKF’s supply of some products to CNHTC and other Chinese truck and trailer manufacturers. Jinan's new plant will play a decisive role."

According to reports, the bearing and bearing unit will be produced by SKF's new plant in Jinan, China. The investment in the new plant is approximately 590 million Swedish kronor. The plant covers an area of ​​16,000 square meters and will be fully operational in the first half of 2012. Initially, approximately 500 employees will be recruited. The seals will be produced by the SKF China Wuhu plant.

At present, SKF has approximately 5,000 employees in China. In September 2011, SKF opened a thirteenth factory in China, mainly producing products to meet the needs of the industrial market. In 2010, SKF opened a Global Technology Center (China) in Shanghai. As an important component of SKF's global R&D network, the Global Technology Center (China) will develop specific products for Chinese customers to meet customer needs, including providing business support to Sinotruk as a strategic partner.
