JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp., Japan's largest refiner and a subsidiary of Japan’s JX Holding Co., Ltd., said here today that a boiler at the Chita refinery occurred on August 29. After the fire, the company shut down the refinery's naphtha hydrodesulfurization unit capable of processing 39,000 barrels per day and the second paraxylene production unit capable of producing 200,000 tons per year. A spokesperson for JX Nippon Oil & Energy said he expects the two production units to restart within this week.
