The study of reservoir caprock is an indispensable important work in today's oil and gas geology research, and the micropore structure analysis of cap rock samples is the main method for cap rock research and evaluation. At present, the determination methods of rock micropore structure at home and abroad are mainly mercury intrusion method and gas adsorption method.

The microporous structure of rock is determined by mercury intrusion method. The imported mercury intrusion meter has higher working pressure and smaller measurable porosity. However, for natural gas capping, the analysis result is not satisfactory. There is also a certain gap in the full analysis of the microporous structure of the rock sample; the domestic mercury intrusion meter is not satisfactory because of the low working pressure. Years of practice have shown that no matter whether it is a single mercury intrusion method or a gas adsorption method, the full analysis of the micropores of the cap rock samples cannot be completed.

With the in-depth development of natural gas exploration, the research and evaluation of caprocks are becoming more and more important. In order to further improve the existing testing equipment and testing technology level, Wuxi Petroleum Geology Research Institute began to study the caprock of natural gas reservoirs as early as 1984. Starting from the analysis of the micro-pore structure of rock samples, a method for determining the micro-pore structure of cap rock samples by gas adsorption method was established. In 1990, a joint measurement method using mercury intrusion method and gas adsorption method was established. To make up for the lack of measurement of domestic instruments.

This new generation of WX-2000 pore structure instrument has three distinct characteristics compared with similar instruments at home and abroad:
