Datuk Saw Choo Boon, chairman of Shell (Malaysia) company, made the above statement at a briefing held in Kuala Lumpur. Shell Chief Executive Van de Ville participated in the briefing.
According to Malaysia’s “Business Times,†the chairman of Shell (Malaysia) stated at the meeting that the funds will be mainly used for oil and gas exploration operations.
Vandeville said that Shell will invest 27 billion U.S. dollars in investment plans worldwide this year, which is the same as last year.
Vandeville said that Shell will pay more attention to its operations in the Far East, and Shell expects its oil and gas operations in Malaysia, China, Indonesia and India to increase.
Vandeville said that key projects in the Far East, including the Gemusut-Kakan project in Malaysia, are expected to start producing oil in 2010.
