Red Hat Releases Linux 7.1 Beta and Preview of Some Features

Red Hat, the world’s largest open source technology vendor, announced today that its Linux 7.1 beta is available and provides previews of new features that will be unveiled in the coming year. The 7.1 Beta Linux system provides new security and performance in the open source community. This test is the first incremental update of Red Hat's Linux platform because its updates are generally in June. The beta update included a new security certificate authority in its identity management system. The 7.1 beta also provides users with improved two-factor authentication capabilities.
In two-factor authentication, the user enters a second password in addition to the master password for access. The secure content automation protocol SCAP has been supported for several years, but now the 7.1 beta brings in some additional enhancements and a SCAP security guide. SCAP provides a framework for creating a standardized system for maintaining security. The new SCAP security guide will also provide security guidance and related verification mechanisms. The 7.1 test release also provides enterprise users with a real-time option for financial and other industries.
