The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers recently held a 2013 work conference to celebrate the annual export of automobiles in China that exceeded 1 million vehicles and the International Trade Coordination Committee of the automotive industry. In 2012, China’s auto exports exceeded 1 million, reaching 1.056 million, an increase of 29.7 compared with the same period of last year. %, China's branded auto exports maintained rapid growth.
According to reports, since the reform and opening up, China has had a real sense of automobile exports, but initially it has developed slowly. From 1958 to 1992, there were only 102,000 cumulative exports, with an average annual export of less than 3,000 vehicles. In individual years, exports were even less than 100. Since 1993, automobile exports have exceeded 10,000 vehicles for the first time and have shown steady growth. Since the WTO accession at the end of 2001, China’s auto exports have experienced explosive growth, falling volatility, and rapid return to growth.
According to the latest data from the China Automobile Association, China’s auto vehicles exceeded 1 million vehicles for the first time in 2012, reaching 1.056 million vehicles, accounting for 5.5% of the total sales volume and an increase of 29.7% year-on-year. Among them, 660,000 passenger cars were exported, up 38.9% year-on-year, and commercial vehicles were exported 390,000, up 16.8% year-on-year. The top five export companies were Chery, Geely, Great Wall, SAIC and Lifan, of which Chery and Geely exceeded 100,000 vehicles.
However, with the continuous changes in the global economic structure, China’s automobile exports are facing opportunities, as well as huge challenges: deteriorated automobile trading environment, unformed core competitiveness, and lack of in-depth understanding of overseas markets. All will become the main obstacle to the further development of China's auto exports.
Dong Yang, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, pointed out that under the condition that the domestic auto market of Chinese brands has been sluggish, auto exports have become an important force driving the growth of China’s auto sales, which is to enhance the strength of Chinese auto brands and promote the Chinese auto industry. The important path from big to strong.
