Commercial Vehicle Sales Surpassed 2 Million Units in 2006


In 2006, it was a bumper year for the entire automotive industry. In addition to the rapid growth of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles also achieved a good harvest. Statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that in 2006 commercial vehicles sold a total of 2.04 million vehicles, surpassing the 2 million mark for the first time, an increase of 14.23% year-on-year, maintaining a rapid growth momentum.

In the industry, the highest sales growth in the year was actually heavy trucks. The cumulative sales of all types of heavy trucks were 307,296 units, an increase of 31% year-on-year. At the time of last year, sales of heavy trucks were still falling. The slowest growth is in medium-sized trucks, only 4%. The truck industry has a clear trend of heavy and light polarization.

In the eye-catching heavy truck camp, FAW and Dongfeng’s leading edge is continuously shrinking. The third-largest China National Heavy Duty Truck sold more than 60,000 vehicles, a 37% year-on-year increase in the speed of the gap between the previous two; FAW , Dongfeng and CNHTC formed the first group of heavy trucks; the greater change in the heavy truck industry's competitive landscape lies in the second-tier Shaanxi Automobile and Foton high-speed growth, in which Shaanxi Zhongqi’s cumulative sales totaled 32,600 units, which represented a growth rate of more than 1 Times, but the total market share of the top 6 companies in the industry decreased from 95% in 2004 to 89% in 2006, and the market was further dispersed; North Benz, Anhui Valin and Jianghuai Automobile became the fastest growing small enterprises. Among them, Jianghuai Gealfa was the fastest growing company in the heavy-duty truck industry due to its small base in 2005 and its growth rate of more than 500% in 2006.

Passenger Cars: "One Pass Three Dragons" Leading

Statistics show that the bus industry has sold more than 140,000 large and medium-sized passenger buses throughout the year, an increase of 21% year-on-year, and the growth rate is more optimistic. In the entire competitive landscape, the industry leading advantages of “One To Three Dragons” (Yutong, Xiamen Jinlong, Xiamen Golden Brigade, and Suzhou Jinlong) are obvious. After the successful implementation of the factory relocation in 2006, the production and sales volume of Xiamen Jinlong exceeded 10,000 units and became an industry. After Siemens Yutong, Xiao Jinlong and Suzhou Jinlong became the fourth company in the passenger car industry to have “10,000 clubs”, the scale of production and sales of all three companies under Golden Dragon Motors exceeded 10,000 vehicles. It is expected that it will be difficult to see the fifth million in the next two years. From the perspective of growth rate, Ankai Bus and Xiajin United (Dajinlong) have the highest growth rates, which are 61% and 39%, respectively.
