Magnetic float level gauge fault cause and treatment method

The magnetic float level gauge consists of five parts: the head, the process connection, the guide rod, the float, and the locking ring (as shown below). It is mounted on the top of the container through a connecting flange. According to the Archimedes principle, the float ball also floats up and down when the liquid level of the container changes, and the reed switch of the float level gauge is affected by the floating ball. The magnetic attraction is used to convert the corresponding liquid surface position into an electrical signal, and then the actual height of the liquid is displayed through the meter head.

The handling of three common faults is handled as follows:

Fault 1, the indication is not normal

The float level gauge indicates abnormality and is a very common fault of the float level gauge. There are usually the following performances:

Phenomenon 1. The maximum pressure of the float level gauge in the atmospheric pressure workshop

Trouble-shooting: Check that the weight of the float is at the lowest point, indicating that the level of the meter is high. The on-site glass plate and instrument indications are not right, usually the false liquid level phenomenon caused by the falling off of the instrument float. At this time, it can be handled by parking the overhaul to replace the float.

Phenomenon 2. The float level gauge of the aromatic hydrocarbon tank area does not change with the liquid level in the container, and always indicates the maximum.

Trouble shooting: At this time, check whether the float ball falls off, such as falling off and reinstalling.

Phenomenon 3, the indication of the float level gauge is low

Trouble-shooting: The above-mentioned fault phenomenon may occur due to the falling of the floating ball, the broken connecting rod, the damage of the floating ball conversion mechanism, the floating ball pointer or the damage of the meter. If the instrument conversion mechanism is pressed and the float connecting rod is flexible, the pointer and the head are unobstructed. At this time, the float connecting rod should be replaced. If the fault cannot be eliminated, it should be excluded one by one in combination with the above reasons.

Phenomenon 4, the float level transmitter suddenly has no indication

Fault handling: If the loop voltage is measured, there is no signal, the polarity of the primary component power supply is not reversed, and the current conversion section has no current output, indicating that the meter head is damaged, and the meter head of the float level gauge should be replaced.

Fault 2, subject to magnetic field interference

If the float level gauge malfunctions, according to the working principle of the float level gauge, it is mostly due to magnetic field interference. Because the float ball and the guide rod of the float level gauge contain magnetic objects, if they are interfered by other magnetic fields in the application environment, it will affect the normal operation of the instrument and even cause the degaussing of the instrument components.

Troubleshooting: Please check the instrument and the surrounding area for strong magnetic field in time, and confirm that there is no magnetic impurity in the liquid to be tested. If there is a magnetic field, please remove it in time to avoid the floating ball level gauge from being affected by magnetic field interference. abnormal.

Fault three, the float is stuck

The float is stuck, usually because the liquid being tested contains impurities and dirt. After a long time, the guide will gradually scale. If the float is not moved by the card, it will cause no signal output from the meter.

Troubleshooting: If there is a fault that the float is stuck, the instrument personnel should check the status of the float in time, check the surface of the guide bar for condensation, and clean it as soon as possible. Especially for the liquid to be tested containing impurities, the instrument personnel should regularly clean the instrument guides.
