Lanzhou: Sanitation, mechanical cleaning and transportation rate will reach 85%

Lanzhou City currently has a low level of mechanization of urban sanitation, which is basically a manual cleaning and collection and transportation. In order to solve the outstanding problems such as insufficient investment in sanitation facilities, backward garbage disposal methods, and people’s “difficulty in toileting”, Lanzhou City decided to invest 60 million yuan this year in deployment of sprinklers, road washing vehicles, snow sweepers, garbage collection vehicles, and sidewalk cleaning vehicles. It is understood that in order to effectively alleviate the problem of “difficult toilets” for citizens and foreign visitors, Lanzhou will also expedite the construction and renovation of public toilets. In 2007, 50 public toilets newly built and reconstructed in downtown urban areas will be completed in the near future.
