Jing Haipeng’s hometown builds “Space City” park to popularize space knowledge for the public

On June 29th in Yuncheng, on the 29th, along with the smooth return of the three astronauts of “Shenzhou No. 9” to the ground, in the hometown of Jing Haipeng, an astronaut in Yuncheng City, Shanxi, the local “City of Space” park that was officially built for it was also built. Crowded.

This aerospace science and technology themed park is located on the bank of Yuncheng city east of the salt lake. In the distance is the lush Zhongtiao Mountain, near the lush flowers and trees. Approaching the Theme Pavilion, the square in front of you stands on a 10:1 scale copy of China's gold medal rocket.

In the Space Science Museum, satellites, space shuttles and other models are displayed, exhibiting the achievements of China’s liberation in space for more than 60 years, as well as photos of life and work of the Yuncheng native astronaut Jing Haipeng, and recording their growth and life experiences.

Yao Wenjing, a staff member of “Space City”, said: “Before the space park was built, young people in our small northern city felt very far away from the knowledge of space. After the completion of the construction, there was a continuous stream of visitors. In fact, space is not so mysterious. It is very close to itself. It's just around.”

According to Yao Wenjing, in 2008, China’s Shenzhou-7 manned spacecraft successfully launched, and three astronauts returned home smoothly. One of them was Yuncheng. In order to remember the hero of the city, the park was built with the theme of space science popularization and opened on October 1, 2009.

A local official who was visiting said to reporters that because Jing Haipeng has brought the city closer and closer to space.
