According to data released by car companies or related media, the sales of the top four car companies in China in August have all increased in China. The top three car makers have achieved double-digit growth. Among them, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. once again won the top spot in Japanese sales with 128,671 terminal sales (excluding Acura); Nissan was the runner-up in sales, and delivered 122,319 vehicles in August in China; Toyota slid to the third from the second runner-up in July, and the sales volume was 108,500. Mazda sold 25,612 vehicles in China in August, and this year's cumulative sales achieved an increase of 13.2%.
Honda: Terminal sales in China in August reached 128,671 units up 20% year-on-year
According to the terminal sales data released by Honda China, Honda sales in China last month achieved an increase of 20.6%, a total of 128,671 vehicles, setting a record for the highest single-month sales in August. Among them, Guangzhou Automobile Honda sales of 58,888 vehicles, up 5.8% over the same period last year; Dongfeng Honda August sales of 69,783 vehicles, an increase of 36.8% year-on-year.
In terms of cumulative sales, as of the end of August, cumulative sales of Honda brand and joint-venture company-owned branded terminals totaled 886,641 units, an increase of 18% from the same period last year. Among them, Guangzhou Automobile Honda sold 443,666 vehicles in the first eight months, up 10% year-on-year; Dongfeng Honda accumulated sales of 442,975 vehicles, up 27% from the same period of last year.
In addition, the Acura brand sold 1,373 vehicles in China in August, up 58.2% year-on-year. In the first eight months of this year, Acura's total terminal sales in China were 8,946 vehicles, a surge of 271.4% from the same period last year. Among them, CDX sales in China last month was 1,300 units, and cumulative sales increased from 502 units last year to 8,249 units.
Nissan: Sales of 122,319 vehicles in China rose by 17.8% year-on-year in August
On September 5, Nissan announced its August sales in China. Last month, Nissan sold 122,319 vehicles in China (including passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, and vehicle imports), up 17.8% year-on-year. Among them, the total sales volume of Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Qichen under the Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle segment last month was 101,405 units, up 16.8% year-on-year; the sales of Dongfeng Motor's light commercial vehicle segment (Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. and Zhengzhou Nissan) were 16,887 vehicles.
As of the end of August, Nissan’s total sales in China were 877,638 units, an increase of 9% year-on-year. The gap was only 9,000 units, which was second only to Honda, and ranked second place in Japan’s cumulative sales in China. Among them, the cumulative sales of the Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle and light commercial vehicle segment were 726,430 and 121,883 respectively. Nissan noted that core models such as Sylphy, Qijun, Qashqaw, Tianhe, Loulan and Qichen T70 and T90 have contributed to Nissan’s strong sales growth this month.
Toyota: In August, sales of 108,500 vehicles in China increased by 13.2% year-on-year
According to the "Nikkei" report, Toyota sold 108,500 vehicles in China last month, up 13.2% year-on-year. At this point, Toyota has achieved growth in China for seven consecutive months. From a model point of view, Corolla is still the best-selling car. In August, the sales volume of this model in China was 29,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 7%.
From January to August of this year, Toyota’s cumulative sales in China were 841,400, an increase of 7.1% compared to the same period last year. In 2016, Toyota sold a total of 1.2 million new cars in China. A Toyota spokesman said that Toyota hopes to sell 1.21 million vehicles in China this year.
Mazda: 25,612 vehicles sold in China in August increased 8.4% year-on-year
According to Mazda’s sales figures released in China, Mazda’s monthly sales in China and cumulative sales in August all set a new record. Last month, Mazda sold a total of 25,612 new cars in China, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%. Among them, Changan Mazda increased 3.4% year-on-year to 15,825 units; FAW Mazda sold 9,787 units, up 17.4% year-on-year.
In the first eight months of this year, Mazda's cumulative sales in China were 184,184 units, an increase of 13.2% year-on-year. Mazda pointed out that the improved version of the new "Mazda3 Axela Angkorella" listed in February made a greater contribution to the entire "Chuangchi Blue Sky" technology model.
