However, the decline in electricity consumption in industries, especially light industry, is extremely significant.
"This is related to the foreign trade situation, especially the lack of exports. The lack of external demand, the low operating rate of domestic processing companies is lower than expected, and traditional heavy industries such as steel and non-ferrous metals are continuation of the low growth in electricity consumption in the first quarter," said Ouyang Changyu.
From January to April, the utilization hours of power generation also showed a trend of decline. From January to April, the cumulative average utilization hours of power generation equipment in the country was 1,480 hours, a year-on-year decrease of 48 hours. Among them, hydropower equipment was 728 hours, down 72 hours; thermal equipment 1705 hours, down 30 hours.
Judging from the structure of electricity consumption, the thermal power situation in April was still severe, with a negative growth year-on-year. Expert analysis is caused by weak demand. In contrast, the hydropower situation was better than the same period last year.
From the perspective of regional structure, electricity consumption in some provinces and cities in East China showed negative growth year-on-year, and experts analyzed that this was related to the intensive export-oriented enterprises in the eastern region.
CEC also stated that the gap between supply and demand during the peak period this summer is still large, and the maximum gap is expected to be around 30 million.
