EU labelling law worsens domestic tire exports

It is understood that, in the first quarter of 2013, 1464 batches of Kunshan tires , the amount of 112.13 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 1.9%, the amount fell 22.8%, exports suffered heavy losses, and directly lowered the tire export growth in Jiangsu. As an important base for the production of tires in Jiangsu Province, Kunshan exports account for 1/3 of the province's total.

According to the analysis, the export of tires in Jiangsu was hit by the EU's " Labeling Law ." What is the status of Shandong's exports in the first quarter as a big tire province? What will happen to the export situation throughout the year?

The reporter interviewed Zhang Hongmin, chairman of the Shandong Rubber Association. He said that Shandong's export data in the first quarter had not yet been counted. However, last year, the growth rate of tire exports in Shandong Province has slowed down. This is due to the declining demand caused by the weakening economy in Europe and the United States. This year, the impact of the EU's “Labeling Law” will appear, which undoubtedly worsens the situation.

Zhang Hongmin added that China's tires are very cost-effective and that they are relatively well-recognized in the international market. Therefore, as long as the economy of Europe and the United States picks up, the export situation of domestic tires is still very optimistic.

The data shows that in 2012, Shandong exported 160 million tires, an increase of 16.2%, accounting for 38.4% of China's total tire exports during the same period.
