Some of our large molybdenum deposit (such as jinduicheng, Shangfanggou, three village, Nannihu and Montenegro), due to the large reserves, shallow, and therefore most suitable for open pit mining. Open-pit mining will become the main mining method for molybdenum mines in China in the future. Generally speaking, the mining method of open-pit molybdenum mines in China is the same as that in foreign countries. The open-pit mining field is also divided into several mining steps for mining. The height of the steps is generally about 10m (the following table). In order to reduce losses and depletion, Jinduicheng Molybdenum Mine adopts separate mining and stripping measures. At present, the mining and stripping ratio of the molybdenum mine is 0.55, the ore depletion rate is 0.9%, the mining loss rate is 2.08%, and the ore grade is 0.12%.

Some vein-like molybdenum deposits in China, or some deep ore bodies, still need to adopt pit mining method for mining. At present, the largest pit mining molybdenum mine is Yangjiazhangzi molybdenum ore with a mining capacity of 5000-8000t/d. The pioneering methods for underground mining molybdenum mines are shaft development, flat development and inclined well development (Table below). Mining methods are mostly used in mining methods. For medium and thick ore bodies, deep hole retention method is adopted, and shallow ore retention method is adopted for ore bodies below medium thickness. At present, several major underground mining molybdenum mines in China have a mining capacity of about 10,000 tons. The mining loss rate is between 12% and 15%, the ore depletion rate is between 15% and 24%, and the ore grade is 0.2% to 0.3%.
