National car ownership exceeded 100 million

The reporter learned from the Ministry of Public Security on July 18 that as of the end of June, the number of motor vehicles in the country reached 233 million. Among them, there are 114 million cars and 103 million motorcycles. The number of motorists in the country reached 247 million, of which 186 million were motorists.

In the first half of this year, the number of motor vehicles in the country increased by 8.26 million, an increase of 3.67%. There are more than 10 million motor vehicles in 8 provinces in the country, of which more than 20 million are motor vehicles in Shandong Province and Guangdong Province.

As of the end of June, the country’s car ownership was 114 million vehicles, an increase of 8.11 million vehicles, an increase of 7.66% compared to the end of last year. Vehicle ownership accounted for 48.87 percent of the total number of motor vehicles, an increase of 1.81 percentage points from the end of last year. There are more than 1 million cars in 17 cities across the country, of which Beijing, Chengdu, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Shanghai and other five cities have more than 2 million cars. The number of private cars reached 86.13 million, accounting for 75.62% of the total car ownership, which was an increase of 1.21 percentage points from the end of last year.

As of the end of June, the number of motorists in the country reached 247 million, and there were 27.01 million drivers with less than one year of driving experience, accounting for 10.93% of the total number of motorists in the country.
