Performance Fibers manufactures low-profile, high-modulus-stabilized polyester cords for tires and rubber products. The company recently doubled its annual production capacity at its joint venture in Kaiping, China and is currently evaluating the expansion of Kaiping. The performance fiber company believes that China's demand for polyester cords is strong, with an annual growth rate of 15% to 20%, while North American and European growth rates are only 4% to 6%. The company's polyester cord sales revenue increased by nearly 9% to 400 million U.S. dollars last year and is expected to increase by 10% to 15% this year.
