In terms of timetables, the ITER organization expects to officially begin the nuclear reactor response in March 2027. The council also hopes to advance the nuclear reactor response time to 2026 if conditions permit. In terms of budget, the council has set a cap on the funding for the ITER program, but the communique did not disclose the specific amount. The council also decided to appoint the island as the director general of the ITER organization to replace Ikeda, who had previously resigned. The latter served as director of the ITER organization since November 2005.
On the 28th, Luo Delong, deputy director of the China Nuclear Fusion Energy Project Implementation Center, received a phone interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters after the meeting. He said that participating in the ITER program reflects China’s determination to develop clean energy.
